IIHMR University Auditorium Extension Areas
Jaipur, Rajasthan
Overview
Terraces, multipurpose green spaces, driveways, pathways and a rooftop garden form the main components of the landscape scheme for IIHMR University -Auditorium extension phase, in Jaipur, Rajasthan. ππΏ
The stepped terraces will serve as a multi-purpose spillover space for the library and auditorium buildings that sit next to them. The existing trees that were growing within the terraces' footprint have all been retained. And more have planted ! In a climate like Jaipur, the cool shade of a tree in the scorching summer heat is a boon .. π³π³
A sunk lawn and a multipurposed garden provide sensorial relief to the driveway and parking areas. β»οΈ The sunk lawn acts as a detention basin during the monsoon months, improving soil moisture, benefitting surrounding planting, and aiding stormwater drainage. During the dry months, it serves as a leisure & recreational space. π³ The new surrounding planting consists of hardy trees & groundcovers, planned carefully for benefits including shade for driveways & walkers, attracting useful pollinators, low irrigation requirements, edible fruit, harvestable leaves, and so on. πΆββοΈππΎ
The rooftop terrace garden atop the new auditorium building, is designed to serve as a multi-purpose outdoor green space on the second floor, with hardy planting to provide sensory respite from the heat! π¦π Shaping up, step by step, with adjustments made as per availability of materials and plants.
π³ Hoping for healthy growth of the planting for the full scheme to mature and thrive as a whole.
